Transform a Text/Fixed Option Field into a Reference Field

Use this feature to automatically transform a text or fixed options field into a reference field on your report

Transform a Text/Fixed Option Field into a Reference Field

Go to AKTEK iQ > Automation > Transform Field into Reference

  1. Click on the + sign to create a new job;

  2. Give it a name and Confirm;

  3. Select the source data structure where all your data is already saved;

  4. Select the source field that you want to transform;

  5. Select the target reference field, where you wish to save the data from the text/fixed options field;

  6. You can enable Skip Record if the target field is already filled. In this case, the job will not override previously filled reference fields;

  7. Save;

  8. You will be redirected to the list of Transform Field into Reference jobs;

  9. Open the menu of the job you have created (arrow on the left side), and click on Run Once;

  10. Follow the progress of the job under View job status. For more details, check this page.

  11. Check your data table. You will find the reference field filled with data. The original field (text or dropdown) will remain as well.

⚠️ The reference field should be pre-created under the data structure. 


Menu Actions

In the main section of Transform Field into Reference jobs, you will find the following actions on the top of the page and in the arrow on the left side of each job:

  1. Select Page Length: Define how many jobs you want to see on one page. The default is 25;

  2. Refresh: to update the list (the list will auto-refresh unless you have this section opened in 2 tabs/windows/users, and you are applying changes on the other one);

  3. Show archived: When enabled, the archived jobs will be displayed on the same list;

  4. Edit: Edit any configuration of an existing job;

  5. Run Once: Run the automation job to get the desired results;

  6. History: View the actions performed on this job with the details of the user and the date;

  7. Archive: Move this job to the archive when it's no longer needed.
