Create Alerts on iQ Social Monitors

Alerts notify you when specified conditions are met for important events and trends in your Media monitoring

Go to iQ Social > Login using your iQ Social credentials > Listen > Alerts 

  1. There are three ways to create an alert:
    • From the main page by clicking on Listen and then on Alerts;

    • From the Monitors’ page, also by clicking on the three dots and then on Alerts;

    • From a monitor by clicking on the three dots of the buttons in the Dashboard and then clicking on Alerts.

  2. Doing so, iQ Social will redirect you to a page where you will see all the created alerts;
  3. To create an alert you must select Add new mention alert or Add new volume alert, this will open a new window with several conditions you can define;
  4. When you click on Volume, you must choose the type of rule between Percent change in volume over time, Amount change in volume over time, or Volume exceeds a threshold.

  5. For Percent change in volume over time and Amount change in volume over time, you must set the alert type from the list below:
    • Total volume increased by X% or #

    • Total volume decreased by X% or #

    • Positive mentions volume increased by X% or #

    • Positive mentions volume decreased by X% or #

    • Negative mentions volume increased by X% or #

    • Negative mentions volume decreased by X% or #

    • Positive mention volume is greater than Negative mention volume by X% or #

    • Negative mention volume is greater than Positive mention volume by X% or #

  6. For Volume exceeds a threshold, you must set the alert type from the list below:
    • Total volume threshold #

    • Positive volume threshold #

    • Negative volume threshold #

  7. When clicking on Mention, you must set the rules by clicking on + Add Rule Group. There are different types of rules that you can select - you can check them here.
    Keep in mind that you can add more than one rule inside a group or more than one rule group.
  8. When you have set all rules for your alarm, click on Options to set:
    • Do not send alerts between specific hours.

    • Ignore mentions older than specific days.

  9. For Recipients, you can select email or SMS groups previously created, or generate new ones by clicking on Configure Messengers.
  10. Once you’re satisfied, click on Save to finish creating your alert. You can always go back to the alert to edit or delete it.

💡 These are the types of rules you can choose from when selecting Mention (step 7):

  • Mention text: here you may select if the mention Contains or Does not contain specific words or phrases.
  • Is comment: here you will see = to True or False, which indicates whether mentions have comments or not.
  • Is Retweet: here you will see = to True or False, which indicates whether mentions have retweets or not.
  • Is Verified: here you will see = to True or False, which indicates whether mentions are from verified accounts.
  • Network: here you will see if the network is = or !=, which indicates whether mentions are from the network selected or not.
  • Hashtags: here you will see if the hashtag is = or !=, which indicates whether mentions have the hashtags selected or not.
  • Tags: here you will see if the tags are = or !=, which indicates whether mentions have the tags selected or not.
  • URLs in Mention Text: here, you may select if the mention Contains or Does not contain specific URLs in the mention’s text.
  • Country: here you will see if the country is = or !=, which indicates whether mentions come from the country selected or not.
  • Region: here you can select the region from a country.
  • Metropolitan area: here you can select a metropolitan area from the US.
  • Language: here you will see if the language is = or !=, which indicates whether mentions are in the language selected or not.
  • Author’s username: here you will see if the username is = or !=, which indicates whether the author’s username matches a given name or not (e.g.: @name).
  • Author Display Name: here you will see if the name is = or !=, which indicates whether the author’s display name matches a given name or not.
  • Author’s influencers score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the author’s influence is in the mentions.
  • Author’s reach: here you can choose how high or low the author’s reach is.
  • Author’s number of followers: here, you will be able to choose how high or low the author’s number of followers is in the mentions.
  • Author Gender: here you will see if the gender is = or !=, which indicates whether the author’s gender is the gender selected or not.
  • Author female score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the author female score is for the mentions.
  • Author male score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the author male score is for the mentions.
  • Author Bio: here you may select if the mention Contains or Does not contain specific words or phrases on the author’s bio in the mentions.
  • Mentioned username (Twitter): here you will see if the mentioned username is = or !=, which indicates whether the username you put in the box is mentioned or not.
  • Sentiment Category: here you will be able to choose whether the sentiment is positive, negative, or neutral.
  • Tense: here you will see if the tense is = or !=, which indicates whether mentions are written in the past, present, or future tenses (or not).
  • Sentiment score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the sentiment score is for the mentions.
  • Subjectivity score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the subjectivity score is for the mentions.
  • Vulgarity score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the vulgarity score is for the mentions.
  • Joy/Trust/Fear/Surprise/Sadness/Disgust/Anger/Anticipation score: here you will be able to choose how high or low the type of sentiment score is for the mentions.
  • Contains media: here you will see = to True, which indicates the mentions contain multimedia files.
